Baldwin City Two 16-year-old Baldwin High School juniors were taken to an area hospital by helicopter ambulance Friday night after a one-vehicle accident about four miles south of Baldwin City.
Troy Stanley and Nick Cox were taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center where they remained Monday. Stanley was in good condition and said he might be released Monday. Cox remains in the intensive care unit.
The teens were injured about 7:10 p.m., after their car left the road and rolled numerous times, said Steve Lunger, Franklin County undersheriff. Cox was driving, said Sheriff Craig Davis, and he said both teens were ejected from the car.
Davis said one witness told officers that Cox's car was attempting to pass another car and it appeared they were racing. The cars were traveling over the speed limit, but Davis didn't have an actual speed.

Radio station KCUR, 89.3 FM is reporting (at 4:35) a serious accident on the turnpike “near a Lawrence exit.” I would hope people would slow down & drive defensively, what with bands of heavy rain passing through—not that this would necessarily be weather related…
I thought I'd check the LJW to see if there was more info on this wreck, but nothing so far. Hope it was a non-injury accident.

It was only 23 minutes ago. If the LJW put something up right now, people would be bitching because there wasn't enough info.
I just pulled in and between 110th and K-7, there was a full fledged gully washer in progress. I-70 is horrible when it comes to pooling water.

Did anybody ever hear anything else about an accident on I-70 near Lawrence? Did it turn out to be not serious enough to make the news? That's the best case scenario, although it would leave people wondering. TOB~ You're right. But in the defense of posters, sometimes initial articles are never updated at all. It's frustrating—especially if you actually see what looks like a serious accident—to never find out what happened.
